Maharashtra Council of Acupuncture is the statutory body constituted by the Government of Maharashtra to regulate and promote the education and practice of acupuncture in the state.
The council functions under the administrative control of the Medical Education Department, Government of Maharashtra. Our primary objectives include maintaining a register of qualified acupuncturists, approving courses and institutions, prescribing ethical standards, and advising the government on matters related to acupuncture.
In line with allied statutory councils operating under the state's medical education framework, the council is also tasked with coordinating academic standards across affiliated institutes, keeping an updated register of practitioners, and overseeing the certification and renewal process for its members, so that patients and students alike can rely on consistent, verifiable qualifications.
Fresh registration, renewal, duplicate certificates, and change-of-name or address requests for practising acupuncturists.
Approval and periodic inspection of institutes offering acupuncture courses, ensuring they meet prescribed academic standards.
Verification of registration and course certificates for employers, government bodies, and other statutory councils on request.
The council is constituted and regulated under the relevant Government of Maharashtra resolution and functions under the administrative oversight of the Medical Education Department, in the same manner as other statutory paramedical and medical councils of the state. Copies of the constituting resolution, registration rules, and code of ethics are made available to registered members and institutes on request.
